Day 62

The walls are closing in!!

Normally, this would be a cause for panic, but in this case, it is beyond exciting!!

Insulation has gone in!

AND.....the exterior paint has gone up as well!!

They did the back of the house first so that the deck can start going up as well!

Here is what the trim/paint color looks like:

The rest of the house not covered in siding will be stone, which should be going up soon!!

Next step.....sheet rock!!  That starts this weekend......

Day 59

Yeah I know, it has been a while......

And not that there hasn't been progress on the house.  There has.

It has just been the kind of progress that is hard to see.  A lot of things in the walls, as opposed to big things like doors and roofs.

But, tomorrow starts a new phase, so I have some updates on what has been going on recently.

The water heaters and H-VAC are in and all hooked up.

Electrical is all in and the panel is set up.

I have a fireplace!!!

All the tubs and shower inserts are in.....here is my big soaker tub that even Adam fits in.

Lighting in the kitchen.....just the recessed lights.  The decorative fixtures and other lighting comes later on.

The exterior people are here to putty every one of the 3 million nail holes to prepare for exterior paint.  As soon as this area is painted, the deck will go on.

Even the boys got in on some fun.....Adam is saving some sheets of ply wood for shelves and Landon, of course, is helping.

Tomorrow starts insulation.....I just want to snap my fingers and have everything done!!!

Day 47

Whew....I almost lost count there!!

No worries, I have resumed my regular visits to the house, just in case anyone was wondering.....

I have actually been a few times this week, but I seem to have my hands full keeping kids out of nail buckets and scrap metal while holding a baby or car seat, so I can't always get a perfect picture!

I got a couple today though!!  Just of the main level.....until there is a banister on the stairs, I am not traveling down or up with a car seat in tow.

Basically, what we have from this past week is a completely sealed house from the outside.  All windows and doors finally made it in, so we are weather proof!

We also have electrical run and H-VAC almost all complete.

Bathtubs have been delivered and insulation goes in next week.

Walls are coming soon!!!!

Sweet Caroline....the first week

Has it only been a week??!!

In so many ways, it feels like it has been so much longer than one week since little Caroline joined our family, but at the same time, it seems like the days fly by.

Maybe that is because days and nights all blend together into one long feeding schedule.....

Anyway, her journey with us began one short week ago, and it has been going very well since.

I went in for my induction last Wednesday, just to begin laboring on my own!  I suppose we were on the same page there!

Only a couple hours later, I had the magic epidural and then within the hour she was here....all 7 lbs. 9 oz. and 20 inches of her.

Apparently I don't like to waste time with labor.....when it is go time, we go!

As soon as she came out, we were smitten......

We spent a lot of time in the hospital just doing this:

Of course the big siblings came to visit.....

And then at home we have just settled into a routine of hanging out and snuggling....

The kids are more than willing to keep her entertained while I get things done.....apparently people still need clean clothes and dinner!

We have found out how to travel as well, and have resumed regular grocery and Target trips!  Plus we got to get out the massive double stroller to enjoy the delicious weather we have.

Good thing she is happy with my method of working around the house with a baby.....it is a life saver, I tell ya!

And with all the plain staring at her we have been doing this week, we have come to a rather obvious conclusion.....have you noticed how much her and Landon look alike??!!  If not for the 4 1/2 years between them, I would say twins!!

Landon:

Caroline:

We will see what the next week brings.....
So far, she is the typical baby.  She eats, sleeps, and poops!
Couldn't really ask for anything different.....except maybe a couple more hours sleep.....

Day 39

Well today was the last check in on the house that I will be able to make until next week.

A lot has been going on and more is coming between this week and next!

The roof is going on.  Should be all finished up by tomorrow afternoon.

Plumbing is completed all throughout the house, and some bathrooms have the shower stalls placed.  The bathtubs are here, just not in the bathrooms yet.  I keep waiting for the one toilet I need in order to start camping out!!

To some, this may just be a random faucet or water line, but to me, it is the most beautiful thing ever!!  It is the line for my pot filler!!!  It is the little things that keep me happy.....

And garage doors are in!  This is the door for Adam's workshop downstairs.  We just got with the designer today to discuss colors for the exterior, so eventually, this door and the other garage doors will be some other color......decisions, decisions....

By the time I visit again (as a family of FIVE!!!) we should have the electrical mostly complete and all remaining doors and windows in.  The H-VAC system is in the basement as well and will be ducted in sometime between this one and next.

With progress like this, we just may be able to be all done before the original July date......

Day 35

Things are picking up again!

We had several small things going on today that make it a big happy day!

The pantry got extended:

Arch ways went up throughout the great room areas:

The coat closet got framed for the door since it used to be a wall:

The plumbing started today, so all over the house are holes and toilet stumps and piping for everything!

The bonus room got the wall on the left moved back to allow for much more space.  This will be staying unfinished until Adam and I decide what we want to do with it....plus it leaves us a project to do.  When do we ever NOT have a project??!

Roofing supplies were also delivered and the downstairs linen closet is framed in, so tomorrow should be another good day!
