I don't think there is any place that terrifies me more then the dentist, but I go religiously every 6 months for cleanings and check ups.
Why??
Because I am scared to death that if I don't go, my teeth will become rotten and fall out and then I will have to go to the dentist for major work.......eeeeeek!
So, we have been taking the kids to the dentist from about 1 year on too.
Lord help me if I ever have to take the kids in for major work......best to get them there now to still their fear and keep things healthy and clean!
Anyway, this week was Avery's first time to visit and Landon's first time to have his teeth actually cleaned.
They were AWESOME!!!
I think they actually did better than me, since I sit there and wring my sweaty palms together and try to imagine sunny places with ocean breezes.....
Here is the play-by-play:
The office gives you sunglasses so the bright light isn't in your face and you look at "soothing" photos on a screen above you.....fancy stuff.
Landon's monkey had to come too. His "teef" needed cleaning as well.
He loved that they counted his teeth....he helped count all the way to 10 for the top and bottom.
And, yes, he actually knows how to count to 10.... :)
He sat really well to get his teeth polished...
And didn't mind the flossing, even though it wasn't with a floss stick....his preferred method.
Hey, I don't complain.....my 3 year old actually has a preferred method to flossing his teeth!
He really liked the suction and rinse part....the hygienist told him to kiss the suction to slurp out all the water.
Then the dentist came to give everything a check.....she said things are looking really good!
I paid special attention when she said the spacing was really good, making enough room for big teeth. Seeing as though his dad had head gear in order to organize his chompers, I would really like to save Landon the trouble!!
And please ignore the ridiculously high-water pants......I refuse to buy more pants at this point in the year. It is supposed to be spring.....but we will save that for another post!
So, Avery came next.....she was fine with the lap to lap exam and was more interested in the dentist's gloves.
Then she opened her mouth wide and let them take a peek....I think she was just expecting someone to give her food.... :)
All is looking good so far! Proud of my babies for being braver than me!
