Day 20

I think today marks the first day we can actually say we have a house!!

Not just a hole in the ground or a slab, even though those things have been quite exciting!

It is amazing what 24 hours can bring to a construction site, especially with really good workers!

Yesterday, the flooring was poured.

Then today the real business happened!!

This morning the lower level was framed in!!
Landon was super excited to have a window!

Avery has one too!

And Adam has a garage door!

Then by this afternoon, we had the floor to the main level!!

They say it will take a total of 4 full days and we will have the whole frame!

By next week that will include doors, windows, and a roof!

We could just about camp out there starting next week.....maybe we should do that a time or two....

Days 16 and 17

Ooooooh, I am so excited!

Although it doesn't look like a ton has been done, there has been tons of action at the house!!
Plumbing has been run and drain tiles placed, and the gravel has been poured.

They also sprayed the water proofing sealant on the foundation and started backfilling.

Next week will be amazing for progress!!

Monday they start pouring the floor and then Tuesday they start framing!

Once the frame goes up, it will really start taking shape!!

We now know what HOT means

You know the phrase "Learn by hand"?

Avery put that to good use today!!

We made a cooked breakfast today and Avery was "helping".  Today was the day that she just decided to reach over the stovetop while it was still hot.

Unfortunately, she did that by leaning on the hot eye first.

Ouch!!!

She managed a pretty good burn on a couple spots across her palm, but for the first time in a couple weeks, I moved FAST!

Obviously, what is done is done, but we were able to avoid the ER and thanks to Adam's extensive experience with "accidents", we have a pretty well equipped first aid kit.

She learned a lesson today, though.....she holds her hand out and says "hot, stove is hot".

Lesson Learned!

Days 11 and 12

I absolutely love seeing this house come together!!

I thought I was excited to see a hole in the ground....but that was before structure started taking shape!

The concrete guys came and poured in footings and foundations....

.....which turned out to look much like a building with walls!!!

At this point, you can see how the lower level is shaping into Landon and Avery's bedrooms, bathroom, the family room, storage room and tornado shelter, and where Adam's garage will come out.

Yay!!!!!

Leave it to Landon to find a way to turn a regular visit into a climbing expedition....

And I had to throw this in there.....today was the first day there was a "sold" sign in the front!  Even though I know it is ours, it was so cool to see the validation.....just in case anyone else was going to drive by and think they could snatch up this concrete masterpiece!

So now the concrete has to cure for a week or so, but after that, framing will begin!!

Day 9

Things are moving along!!

We stopped by the house (again....I think the workers have come to expect us by now!) to check on progress.

It rained all day yesterday and this morning, so I really wasn't expecting to see anyone there.

I was pleasantly surprised!!

There had to be 5 or 6 trucks and a giant concrete mixer there.

That means that even in the muck and the mud, we were getting our footings and foundation poured!  More will happen tomorrow, but this is good news today!!

Day 7

Well today should have much more to update, but, as with all new builds, there are always delays.

Today the frame work was set in order to pour the foundation!!

This was scheduled to happen last Thursday, but after a small rainy day, some scheduling conflicts with the "concrete guy", and probably some other excuses delays, we are just starting today.

Not a huge set back, but this should have been finished today, as opposed to just beginning.

Nonetheless, progress is being made and we are very happy for that indeed!!

As soon as all this is done (in the next 3-4 days) our 120 day countdown will begin!!

Is it for dogs or kids??

We found a new place to be on nice days!!

Although it is called a Dog Park, I am pretty sure I could just leave the kids there too!

Acres of fenced in grass where 4 and 2-legged pets can just run??

Sign me up!!

I mean, the dogs had fun and all.....

....but I think it worked out just as well for the kids!

We brought some kites for them to play with, which attracted several other 4-legged "pets" from other people.

With all the fresh air and sunshine today (and lack of nap time), I am pretty sure an early bed time and long, hard sleep is in our future!  Success!!
