A Wedding and a Honeymoon(ish)

So, this past weekend was The Weekend!

My bestie got hitched!!  It still takes some getting used to in order to call her a "Mrs.", but then again, I still think it's weird that I am a "Mrs.".  Anyway, it was absolutely lovely!!

The wedding was out in Asheville, North Carolina.....so gorgeous in the fall!!  Adam and I, Caroline, and my mom flew out for a long weekend.

Caroline went on her first plane trip and did an awesome job!

Then we drove from Charlotte to Asheville.  Baby slept, mom talked, we goofed....

Adam kept screaming "I see the mountains!!!  Take a picture, take a picture!!!"
So, I took some pictures....

Amy, the bride, had all of us in the wedding party stay at these cabins out in the woods.  Again, not quite sure what to expect until we got there.....breathtaking!!  Check out our cabin!!  Notice the hot tub???  AND.....we had a pac-n-play in the cabin for Caroline, but it fit better in my mom's room, so she offered to take the baby in her room with her!!!  Now do you see where I got the "honeymoon" part from?.....

This little dock area screamed "photo location"...

We spent one day just perusing around downtown Asheville.  Lazy day, relaxing, wonderful!

We hit up this old-time ice cream soda fountain place and this beauty called my name!  No worries.....I did not waste a drop!

I even shared a bite....

Mom was happy.....

That evening we left Caroline with the babysitter (aka Mom) and headed to the rehearsal dinner.  Date night!!!

The festivities included karaoke.  It only seemed fitting we give our best shot at our own rendition of "Mmmbop".  I may regret sharing this later......

So, after toasting away Amy's last night of single lady-hood, we tucked her into bed and got ready for the Big Day!

So, lemme tell ya....it is super fun to put 8 gals together and get all gussied up!  We had the whole glam squad working away at us for HOURS!!!

The bride.....

For some time, I had TWO stylists figuring out my hair.....must have been a challenge!

Rocking the curly 'do....

And here we are....all purtied up for the wedding!

Seriously, gorgeous bride!!

I thought I cleaned up pretty well too.....I mean, it took 3 people and several hours for this!  Oi!

Adam and Caroline got all snazzy too....

Here we go.....

I don't think the venue or the weather could have been any more perfect for this!  It was beautiful!!!

The wedding was great and the reception was amazing!!

Want to know something really cool?? Amy is really good at keeping in touch with people and keeping friendships going, so there were several people at the wedding from middle school!!  I am talking over 15 years ago!  It was so awesome to see friends from the past and get to reconnect!
Here is the Summit Middle School crew:

The Mr. and Mrs.!!!

I think we have decided to add Asheville to the "When we get an RV and can travel more" list.  Although, another "honeymoon" type trip would be even better......

Many congrats to Amy and Geoff!Z

Num Num

I gave in and finally got Caroline on some cereal this week!

She has been ready for some time, but I was just dragging my feet a little (or a lot.....).

But then she started waking up in the wee hours of the morning to eat and I decided to give in.

She absolutely loved it!!!

Since then, we have gotten to try some oatmeal too and it is going very well!

She is back to sleeping full nights and napping right along with the other two (woooo hoooo!!!).

Of course, now, the only not-so-good side is we have graduated from breast milk poo to stinky poo......and everyone nodding their heads right now knows exactly what I mean!

Num num!!

The Gospel According to Landon

Landon is my Rainman.  He processes and absorbs everything you tell him and then spits it out in some crazy (but almost always true) fashion at a later time.

We belong to a fantastic church that does amazing things for kids and is really getting the Gospel into them!

Landon loves being a part of all the kid's ministry activities and has been clearly absorbing the Bible stories.  Here is his version of the Gospel:

Landon:  God loves us and sent his son.....away.  (Memory verse with some flair)

Me:  Then what happened?

Landon:  Some BAD guys took Him and then they NAILED Him to a CROSS!

Me:  Yep, and what happened to Him?

Landon:  He died, but then he woke up.  He was NAKED!

Me:  Why did He do that?

Landon:  So we won't sinned anymore.

Me:  Well, we still sin, because we are naughty, but Jesus takes our sins and washes them away.

Landon:  Does He use cold water?

*speechless*

So, on another note, remember how Landon's last musical performance went from VBS?  The nose-picking?  Complete distraction from what was going on?

I am happy to say we have improved!!  Landon decided to join the preschool choir at church and they had their big performance yesterday!

He did such a good job!!!

So proud of this little guy!

Caroline......5 months!

This must be my month of fives!
I have a 5 year old and a 5 month old!

I whine about the other one getting so big, but this one changes every single day!!
I just want to squeeze her face!!

This girl has more personality than any other baby I have ever met.....seriously!

And she is quite the charmer.....

Since Adam had surgery and was down a lot the older kids spent time with the grandparents from time to time.  It was nice to get some individual time with this one, and she is so good at just making you happy!!

Her and Daddy got along really well.....

I think teeth are coming really soon for her....she will chomp away at anything she can get a hold of!!
And the drool....

She finally figured out how to get rolled over to her back after rolling to the front.  Now she literally rolls across entire rooms!  But she is so proud of herself!

And we are sitting up!!!  She can only do it for a few seconds completely on her own.  She usually goes to look at something off to the side and throws her whole body off center!

Oh and the toes!!  I am sure she is wondering why we didn't show her those awesome toys sooner....

Like I said.....everything goes in her mouth!

And we tried a high chair out the other day!  Success!!
I suppose now I should bring out ours at home....

It is in my plan to try some rice cereal soon.....I may be procrastinating on that one a bit.....

Clearly she is chubby and healthy and doing fine!  No need to go and grow all the way up on me!

FIVE!!!!

How did it happen???!!!

My little baby boy is FIVE!!!

Somewhere along the way time just kept on creeping by and before I knew it I had a 5 year old!

I mean, clearly, there have been 2 more babies since him, but I still look at his face and wonder how on earth he grew up......so fast!

I will tell you one thing....this kid is so stinkin' smart!!
He remembers everything (seriously, EVERYthing) and can usually spit things back at you that you didn't necessarily teach him, but make perfect sense.  Genius, totally.

Look how grown up he looks too!!
So handsome, but not a baby anymore!!

Ok, enough of my sob story about my baby growing up......

So, we had his birthday party, of course.

Since this is his last year getting a party thrown at home (other places get to clean up after cake and kids from now on!) I let him take the reigns on what he wanted.

He was absolutely adamant on a Thomas cake.......we worked that out!

And he wanted a big huge bouncy house "like at Fun Run"......we got pretty close!

And he asked for dinosaurs and tigers.

Well, I don't know about you, but I am fresh out of dinosaurs and tigers.  So, we went along the same lines and had exotic animals.

I am pretty sure he was satisfied!

He was so excited to blow out candles......"And you have to say Happy Birthday to me!"

And presents......out of all of it, he seemed pretty excited about the foam finger!

Happy #5 baby boy!!!

At least I have the year to mentally prepare for 6.....and kindergarten.......
