Adam-isms

So I know I usually blog about funny things the kids do, but you all should know that Adam is right up there with some of the stuff he says and does.

For example....

After a rather windy, stormy day in Iowa, I get a call on my way home from work.
Adam:  "Did you pay the trash bill this month?"
Me:  "Of course!  Why?"
Adam:  "The trash can must have gotten repossessed.  It's not here!"
Me:  "Could it maybe have blown away??  Are there other things blown around?"
Adam:  "Well, yeah.  Ok then."

Adam considers himself to be robbed when his lunch box is missing any one of the following items:
-chips
-fruit snacks (2 packs)
-cheese stick
-carrots or cucumbers with peppercorn Ranch dip (seriously!)
-crackers (Wheat Thins or Triscuit)
-cheese crackers
-yogurt (strawberry or peach only)
-fork AND spoon
-2 drinks (combinations can vary)

Adam likes shrimp, but only if the tail is on.
Does he eat the meat in the tail?
No.
He doesn't want to eat the "shrimp poop".

If having a conversation with Adam, refrain from using the words "flatulence" or "flamboyant".
In his head, they are interchangeable.

If something is broken, Adam will fix it.
He will use at least one of the following items, no matter what the project:
-duct tape
-Gorilla glue
-zip ties
-electrical tape
-plywood
-staple gun

When Adam and I were at church once, he started franticly digging in my wallet at offering time.
Me:  "What are you doing?"
Adam:  "We have to put money in the plate!"
Me:  "Why?"
Adam:  "I am already on the fast track!  I need something to be in my favor!"

Ask Adam what his favorite part of his day was.
On any given day, using Q-Tips in his ears after a shower will rank Top 3!

While packing for a trip to KC, Adam insists that he can pack his own bag.
Fine with me!
Once in KC, Adam says "You forgot to pack me any underwear!"
I said "I didn't pack for you this time, remember?"
Adam:  "Oh yeah.  You should have known better!"
And off to Wal-Mart we went.

Whenever I have been pregnant, Adam refers to the impending birth as the most Redneck phrase ever!
"Throwing a pup"
Really??!!

Adam hates having anything in his nostrils.
So, he picks out whatever is in there.
His favorite finding is always the "bungee boogie".
Just ask him about that....

On several occasions, Adam will turn his head to the left while driving to sneeze.
If only he rolled down the window first....

I could go on all day about the things Adam does and says that crack me up, but pretty soon nap time will be over!
I love you babe!  Even if you are a complete goober!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

So for the past few days, I have been actually capturing Landon playing with his new "friend".

And for those of you with minds like Adam, I am not referring to the one that came with him at birth!

Landon has befriended, quite fondly, one of his stuffed animals.

Specifically, the Grinch.

He does EVERYTHING with this grinch!

He talks to it like I talk to him or Avery and makes the Grinch do everything he and Avery do.

For example....
Grinch sits at the table for meals, since according to Landon, "Ginch hungee".

Grinch shares a quick drink at bedtime.

Grinch sits in the bouncy seat, whether it is taken or not!

Grinch apparently likes applesauce for breakfast, and if I don't move fast enough, Landon will get it for him!

Grinch gets tucked in for an afternoon nap, although sometimes there is more playing than sleeping, so Grinch has to take his nap in the living room.

Grinch shares a snack (and Landon is not one to share food!)

Grinch gets his own plate and spoon.

And since I change 2 kids' diapers, so does Landon.  Bear gets a "keen" bottom too!

But my absolute favorite.....
Landon will sit down, lift his shirt, and breastfeed the Grinch!

He never forgets to give him a burp!

I suppose we really have to be careful what we say and do now! Some little eyes and ears are keeping track of our every move!

Monkey see, Monkey do!

Avery...3 months!

3 months already!

At this point with Landon, I was heading back to work.  I am beyond glad that is not an issue right now! Things are going great with this little girl, but I cannot imagine taking on the stress of managing (and rushing) both kids in the mornings and evenings while working full time and doing daycare, etc.

Anywho......here is the latest on Little Missy:

Height: 24 inches (her growth spurt came!)
Weight:  13 1/2 pounds (according to my bathroom scale)

She is such a charmer too!  Just check out her grin...

She looks an aweful lot like someone else I know around that age...
...must be the cheeks!

Major accomplishments this month too!!

-She smiles/coos in response to us, as opposed to just random ones.
-She has started grabbing things with her hands.
-She is pretty much on a schedule, which helps me out TONS!!
-And.......

SHE SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!!

Sometimes for up to 10 hours!  I know, I am sooooo bragging, but I loooove my sleep, so this is a major deal for me!

As long as I keep to the schedule, we all sleep great!

Here are a few fun moments from month 3....
Hanging out with Daddy!

Mother's Day

"Calling Bompa" with Landon

Such a doll!

Catching a nap
(No idea why this came out long-ways)

Keep on growing Little Miss!  We love watching you grow and change!

Mind Your Pees and PooPoos....

That was the line from the "Potty Training 101" DVD that told me the disc was full of horse hockey!

But since we are officially in potty training mode, no turning back, I gave it a look.

All these cheery moms and dads who obviously have nothing else to do other than play in the bathroom and take car trips to get used to pottys in public.

Seriously???

We have taken a slightly less "bubblegum" approach, but hopefully progress will be made!

We set up the bathroom downstairs to be "Potty Training Central"
We take potty breaks every hour.....or more since somebody seems to pee at either the 55 minute mark or 2 minutes after leaving the potty!
And since there are times when I KNOW he has to go, we sit down for the long haul!
One time (two times now!) we have gotten lucky!!
With a commemorative wave, he gets to flush...
And enjoy a delicious cookie!
Happy dances all around!
Now if only we can make this happen more often.....

I have to say, this has been the most challenging part of parenting thus far!  I am almost positive I have already given him a complex by making him sit on the potty all the time! How on earth is he supposed to use public restrooms when it takes sitting for at least 20 minutes before something happens???

Lord, give me patience to survive the next couple weeks and not harm a small child in the process.....

You Might Be a Redneck If......

.......this is your view from the deck:

In all seriousness, we have officially crossed over to Redneck-ville.
I mean further than normal!

Our home does not have air conditioning......really, it's common in Duluth...
But for a couple months, it can really get hot!!

So, while Adam had time, he went ahead and "installed" air conditioning for the season.
We were going to get an actual system put in, but decided to put the money towards some land instead.
So, here is our version of air conditioning.....Redneck style!

First, we had to hoist the stand onto the deck (since there are no stairs on the deck.....future project!)

Then my screen door was relaced by the "custom-made" air conditioner "frame"...
Definitely a MUCH different view than my previous one:

Then came the "gem"......the actual unit.
It fit in the "frame" and stood on the stand to make my sliding glass door now look like this:

Oh but wait!!!  The final Redneck touch.......Duct Tape!!

Now, as completely ugly as this system is, it does work great!  And since we don't have one of those dollar trees in our back yard, this is what we will live with until we get an actual "installed" system.

Donations are greatly appreciated!
And we accept Visa....

True Love...

You know how you do certain things for someone you love that may seem insignificant to others, but mean the world to the two of you??

Today, Adam came home from work armed with an extra large Mr. Goodbar AND a Dove dark chocolate bar AND a really nice card that he wrote really sweet things in.

My first thought.....
What did you do??

His response......
Just because I love you.

*Sigh*

Tomorrow, Adam has to meet a big Head Hancho at work, so he has to wear a "grown up" shirt.
It has to be ironed.
I HATE to iron......

But, at midnight, I am ready to iron his shirt so he can go to bed and rest up for his big day.

A bit of chocolate, a card, and an ironed shirt....
Seems like nothing much to an outsider.

Around here, that is True Love!!

Love you Babe!!

Vacation....Kansas City Style!

We just got back from a jam-packed week in Kansas City....

....and I mean JAM-PACKED!

We love going down there and seeing family and friends, but there is absolutely NEVER enough time to do everything we would like to do!

I think we did a pretty good job fitting in all the essentials though!

We hung out with all the grandparents....
Avery got to meet her Aunt Lisa:

Landon helped out with a few projects....complete with the tool belt!

Handprints (and feet for Avery!) in the cement around the flagpole.

We hung out with our friends, Pat and Lori, who will one day be our kids' in-laws (at least that is the plan!)
Here is Avery and her "husband", Tyler:
Landon and his "wife" Maddy:
Last year...
And this year...
I think they are in love.... :)

We took a day trip up to Ankeny to see friends from school...

And while in Ankeny, we got some AWESOME pictures taken by the AMAZING Sarah!
A couple of my favorites....

Adam and I also got in a much needed date night!
Titanic in 3-D!
The grandparents provided the babysitting!
Landon and Maddy got to go on a date too (supervised of course!)
They went to the zoo!

Highlights include polar bears...
Feeding the sheep...
And riding the train...

Sadie and Bailey enjoyed hanging out too!
Of course, we did lots of relaxing!!
And napping...
And when Landon wasn't in the "naughty chair"...
...he was outside with Bompa!
It was Bompa's birthday while we were there, so we went out to celebrate:

And on the way home, we had to stop by and see the Hatfield's.  We both have had babies since we moved....Avery and Greta got to meet each other.

We had a blast in KC!!
Next time, we need to be there at least a month!
