Oh Pinterest...

Confession:

I don't quite "get" Pinterest.

A while back, all I heard about was "pinning" and people finding dinner recipes on Pinterest and crafty things and everything else people who use Pinterest rave about.

So, I got invited and joined to see what all this fuss was all about.

I don't get it.

I have tried to look for specific things, but it seems you have to get on there and surf through all this random "stuff" even though your purpose was to find a crock pot recipe for soup using chicken, or whatever your purpose may have been.

So now I get at least 5 emails a week saying someone is "following" me on Pinterest.  I just wonder what they think they are following.....

Certainly nothing crafty!  :)

And how is this different from Facebook or Twitter or all the other "follow me" sites?

People "pin" pictures.  I can do that on Facebook.

People "pin" recipes.  I can do that on Facebook.

People "follow" others to see what they are up to.  I can do that with a blog.

Clearly, I am WAAAAAAY missing the point of Pinterest since so many people are avid "followers", but I just cannot get into it.

Sorry to those of you who chose to follow me on Pinterest.......you will be following rather empty boards!

But if anyone wants an invitation to join, I suppose since I am "in the group" I can get you an invitation.

You just let me know and tell me how to invite you......

Happy "pinning" Pinterest followers!

Simple Pleasures

It has been a while since I had time (or energy, for that matter!!) to sit down and update life's happenings.

Well, don't think it's been just bon-bons and soap operas in this house!

We (alright, mainly Adam and crew.....but me too!) have been busy busy working on a very important project.

And we are finally getting veeeeeeery close to finding the simple pleasure in a job well done!

You see, Monkey Butt Construction has been hard at work turning our unfinished basement space into a 4th bedroom for Landon's big boy room and totally organizing the leftover space as fantastic storage.

More on that later, since I am sure several faces just contorted and said "What the heck is Monkey Butt Construction??"

And I want to wait until all is done to have the "big reveal"!!

I will allow one teaser though.....
Clearly, the project was in the best of hands!

On another note, some of you may know that I accepted an adjunct teaching position with the College of St. Scholastica.  Well.....class started last week.

Leading up to class, I had a lot of stress and anxiety about being prepared, having something to offer the students, doing things right in terms of the school's standards, conducting my first face to face class to COLLEGE STUDENTS......just a bit overwhelming to someone who over-analyzes almost everything!

So, I got everything put together as best as I could.  The online classroom opened and students started assignments.  Then yesterday we had our first face to face class.

It went GREAT!!!!!!

The students are awesome, I feel like I may have actually taught them something, and I didn't run out of time or end up with hours remaining.

One student even said she liked my delivery and conversational approach to the class!

Simple pleasure of satisfaction.

And a major stress relief to know that the next 7 weeks of class are something I can handle and am prepared for!

Needless to say, being MUCH less stressed out and worried about projects and time constraints leaves me so much more free time to enjoy my favorite simple pleasure.

It may only last a little while longer, so I have to enjoy it now...
.....especially since in a little while there will be one more body taking up lap space in the chair!

Preggo Brain...

Oi!  I have self-diagnosed myself with a terrible case of Preggo Brain...

Definition of Preggo Brain:
A condition pregnant women suffer from throughout pregnancy that causes inexplainable lapses in common sense, forgetfulness, and completely absurd brain fart moments.

Please note:  While many may argue that I suffer from Preggo Brain ALL the time, not just in times of pregnancy, let me just tell you that what you thought was bad before just got outta control recently!
Imagine that....

So, here is what led me to my official diagnosis:

1. For the past few days (at least), I have misheard things people say in the worst way.
Example:  "cardigan" was heard as "Ducati", as in the motorcycle
Example 2: "I need to stop for gas" came across to me as "honey stuck ...something....a**"
(that was a fun one to figure out)

2. I don't think I have walked into a single room recently without doing 9 different things, none of which were the reason for going in to the room in the first place.

3.  I put Landon's pants on BEFORE a diaper the other morning. No worries, he let me know.

4.  My lists now have to include things like "do laundry", "pay bills", "call so-and-so".  I just hope I am cured before the list has to include "shower" or "put on pants".

5.  And the finale, top notch Preggo Brain goof........I picked up Adam's toothbrush tonight and used it.  Really, I did that.  And toothbrush sharing is NEVER ok in my book.....EV-ER!!!!   After re-brushing with my toothbrush, I added "get toothbrush" to tomorrow's list.

Obviously there are several more examples of my current disease, however, I just can't seem to remember any of them......
